In a response to public demand, Pendle Council's Parks, Cemeteries and Outdoor Recreation section at Marsden Hall Farm, Walton Lane in Nelson, is open on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Staff from the section will be on hand to answer any enquiries that members of the public may have about the 11 public parks, the 39 playgrounds, dozens of Council-owned green spaces, plus the cricket and football pitches and the fishing lakes that the Council operates in the Borough.
Enquiries can be made in person or by telephone. Opening hours are between 9.00 am and 12.30 pm on both Saturday and Sundays. Telephone enquiries can be made on 01282 661600. "
Mr Colin Patten, manager of the Council's Parks, Cemeteries and Outdoor Recreation service area said: "We have also introduced a 7-day-a-week rota system for the maintenance of the Borough's 11 parks and 6 cemeteries, plus the numerous sports pitches and facilities the Council operates. This initiative to open on weekends is part of the plan we have to continually improve the quality of the services we provide local people."
