Upper Pond and Roman Bath Project in Marsden Park is now underway

Marsden Park

Marsden Park is being restored to its former glory over the next four years.

£1.5 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, pendle Council and other sources is going to be spent on the improvements.

Kevin Singleton, Project Manager for the Redevelopment of Marsden Park, said: "In total, thirteen projects will be carried out over the four years to make Marsden Park a wonderful area for the whole community to use and enjoy."

The first project was to create a new play area, which was completed and officially opened on 10th September 2004 and now the second project is underway.

The Upper Pond and Roman Bath restoration should take up to six weeks to complete, and work will include:

  • reinstating the original layout of the pond and bath areas
  • replacing railings with a more appropriate style
  • redirecting Hendon Brook to flow through the pond

For more information about the work to be carried out in Marsden Park with the new lottery bid money, see the Marsden Park Heritage Lottery Fund Page or email the Parks, Cemeteries and Recreation Officer at parks@pendle.gov.uk.
