Home modernisation - council properties
All Councils have been set a target of raising the standard of all its properties by the year 2010 by the Government. This target, known as the Decent Homes Standard is driving the Council's programme of modernisation in your homes.

In order to raise the standard of your home, a recent stock condition survey identified the following works are required: -
- Double glazed windows
- Replacement kitchens
- Replacement bathrooms
- Re-roofing
- Replacement heating systems
- Rewiring
- New render
It is likely that in the forthcoming years your home will have one of the above improvements undertaken. The Council is currently drawing up a 5-year programme of works and this will be published on this page once it is completed.
As the Council has been working towards upgrading homes in recent years and you may have already benefited from some improvements.
