
Grant assistance may be given to owners, where a combination of circumstances including the condition of the property is considered to have a detrimental effect on the occupier's health.
These grants are subject to a test of Financial Resources to establish whether or not the applicant has a contribution to make towards the cost of the works. The test is prescribed by Parliament and the Council has no discretion over its use, or the results obtained from it.
The decision whether or not to award an Exceptional Circumstances Grant is made by a panel of councilors, who make their decision, following a written application. This application should contain details of all the circumstances why you feel that grant should be approved. This should be accompanied by any other relevant documents to strengthen your case. (i.e. Doctor's letters or structural reports etc) All information should be submitted at one time, as the decision will be made only with information provided.
