Many Council Tenants can mistakenly believe that their furniture, personal belongings and decorations are automatically insured against theft or damage from fire and burst pipes. Unfortunately this is not the case. We strongly advises all Council Tenants to take out household contents insurance in some form.

As a Tenant you are entitled to insure the contents of you Council house with an insurance company of your choice.
How do I make a claim on my Home Contents Insurance?
You will need to contact your insurance company who will send a form or may send someone out to see you.
The Housing Service will be looking into the possibility of introducing a low cost contents insurance scheme.
