
Don't lose your right to vote on 5th May, 2005. If your name is not included in the Register of Electors you will not be able to vote. To check if you are on the register call 01282 661919. You must register by 11th March to be eligible to vote at this election.
The electoral register is the list of everyone who is registered to vote. It is updated every year using the details from the registration form you receive each autumn from the council.
Now there is also rolling registration. This means the electoral register is updated every month. So if you have moved or have been missed off the register you can get your new details put on to the register much quicker.
You can only vote in elections if your name is on the register of electors. Contact the Elections Office on 01282 661919 for an application form or download an Electoral Registration Form.
Each person must complete a separate application form and the form must be signed and returned to the Electoral Registration Officer, Borough of Pendle, Town Hall, Market Street, Nelson, Lancashire BB9 7LG.
You must be:
Citizens of EU countries other than the UK or Irish Republic cannot vote in Westminster Parliamentary elections and must fill in a separate form to vote in European Parliamentary elections.
New arrangements now mean that once you have registered your name will be added to the register within seven weeks of your application.
Anyone can apply for a postal vote at any election or you can apply for someone else to vote on your behalf if you have a particular reason, for example, if you are blind or disabled or if you will be away from home during an election. Contact the Elections Office to arrange for the right form to be sent to you.
You can apply for a postal vote for a particular election, for a specified period of time or for an indefinite period.
