Community and Living
Creil is an attractive compact town of about 35,000 in the Oise Valley. It is about 25 miles North West of Paris and is close to places such as Compiegne, Chantilly and Clermont. The nearest airport is Charles de Gaulle, and flights take about an hour from Manchester. By road and ferry the journey takes about ten hours.
On the first twinning visit to Creil in 1973, about 400 people travelled by special train from Nelson. Over the years, links formed by Nelson and Colne College and Edge End High School allowed many young people to visit and make friends with their counterparts. After 27 years, the link is as strong as ever.
