Support for Rural Businesses
Help and advice for businesses in the rural parts of Pendle, is available from a wide variety of sources. Closest to hand is the Council's Regeneration Unit, who can offer a wide range of practical support or alternatively signpost you to a more appropriate organisation.
One of these is Lancashire Rural Futures, whose main role is to assist and support farms and land based businesses with:
- Business planning and development
- Accessing grants for business development or environmental improvements
- Exploring new market opportunities
- Planning applications
- Assessment of training needs
For businesses looking to make an investment in new technology, building improvements or any other capital project that will lead to the creation of new jobs or the safeguarding of existing employment can contact the Council's Grants Officer to determine the most appropriate source of funding.
The Northwest Development Agency's Rural Workspace programme is specific to rural areas. Grants are available to help refurbish derelict or redundant buildings or to construct new business premises. The aim is to encourage new working opportunities in rural areas and the programme is flexible enough to include support that may even enable people to work from home.
